Barclays Talent Education: Empowering talent to thrive

Every talented girl deserves the opportunity to pursue her football ambitions without compromising her education.

Barclays Talent Education supports talented players aged 8–16 to succeed academically and athletically, strengthening the connection between schools and the talent pathway. At its heart is a simple belief that girls shouldn’t have to choose between school and their dream of playing professional football.

Supporting teachers to support her

Identifying talent early is key.

We upskill teachers to better understand talent characteristics, helping schools recognise potential and connect players to the right opportunities.

Through dedicated ‘GO Shine’ moments, we link talented girls to the wider pathway by attending and connecting into school football events. To ensure players are seen and supported, we prioritise access in historically underserved areas, where barriers can limit opportunity.

Making progression possible

Transitioning from school football into the talent pathway can be challenging. As part of Barclays Talent Education, we provide financial support and structured guidance for players and families, scaffolding the journey so progression feels sustainable, not overwhelming.
